Accessibility statement
This Accessibility statement concerns Opin.fi online service provided by HigherEd Hub Finland Oy. The online service was published on 1 October 2024. Service accessibility was assessed by a third party in May 2024.
The Accessibility statement was originally drawn up on 8 March 2024 and updated on 17 June 2024.
Compliance status of the online service
There are accessibility failures in the Opin.fi service, and the website does not meet the requirements in full. We understand that especially users who employ assistive technologies benefit from an accessible service, and we wish to guarantee the accessibility of the digital service in compliance with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019)(Avautuu uuteen välilehteen).
The beta version of the online service partially meets the accessibility requirements. We are compiling a list of identified shortcomings and will attempt to rectify them.
Web service non-accessible content (according to WCAG criteria):
The following aspects of the service do not yet fully meet the accessibility requirements:
1. Content perceivability
Among other things, failures related to perceivability are found in headings, input fields and contrasts. The headings do not meet the requirements for hierarchic and logical structure in all views. Not all input fields can be automatically identified.
Inaccessible content:
- Info and relationships (WCAG 1.3.1)
- Identify input purpose (WCAG 1.3.5)
- Contrast (minimum) (WCAG 1.4.3)
- Non-text contrast (WCAG 1.4.11)
2. User interface operability
There are failures relating to operability with a keyboard on the website as not all elements of the site can be accessed using the keyboard alone. There are also failures relating to the keyboard focus indicator.
Inaccessible content:
- Keyboard (WCAG 2.1.1)
- Focus visible (WCAG 2.4.7)
3. Content understandability
In terms of understandability, there are failures associated with the service texts. Part of the text contains multiple languages. An effort will be made to rectify this problem and develop the service, ensuring that the language will be correct in all text parts. Additionally, if fields are completed incorrectly, the focus indicator does not automatically move to the incorrect field once the error has been detected. The service also includes some pop-up windows that are displayed without warning.
Inaccessible content:
- Language of parts (WCAG 3.1.2)
- Error identification (WCAG 3.3.1)
- On input (WCAG 3.2.2)
4. User interface robustness
The online service contains incorrectly labelled buttons and links whose functionality is not clearly described for assistive technology users. Additionally, the screen reader does not give a clear error indication in all cases without shifting the focus, which also makes it more difficult for these users to operate in the service.
Inaccessible content:
- Name, role value (WCAG 4.1.2)
- Status messages (WCAG 4.1.3)
